Actually should have said tapioca chips and not tapioca fritters. The 'kacang putih' man sells tapioca chips. The tapioca is sliced thinly across, dried and then deep fried. Salt added to taste. Tapioca fritters is normally sold by another vendor who sells fried stuff such as banana fritters along with tapioca fritters. The tapioca is sliced in about 1/4" width and fried in batter until golden yellow.

Bubble Tea to rival Starbucks? STARBUCKS is an International Brand name and the ambience is different also in a STARBUCKS outlet. There's still a long way to for any home grown brand to rival STARBUCKS at the moment.

If you like balut and bagoong you will also like "belacan" and salted fish. Try it when your/our foreign friends are around and see what happens.[THUMBUP]

There is also a Chinese dish which is similar except it is not eaten raw.
By the way, have you eaten "cincalok" which I think has also been one of the foods in Fear Factor. Also featured in MTV ' I Bet You Will '.
